Griffey Hits 500th Home Run
At long last, Ken Griffey Jr is a member of an elite club in Major League Baseball history. During the Reds’ 6-0 victory over the St Louis Cardinals today, Griffey hit his 500th career home run. It came in the sixth inning, off a 2-2 pitch from Matt Morris. Congratulations, Junior!

Robin, You pick the Cards over the Reds? I thought we were friends?
Well, I’m not that serious about baseball… but still!

Ashlee, Heck yeah I pick the Cards over the Reds….I am a St Louis girl all the way. I watched Ozzie Smith and my favorite cards all the time, back in the day. Sorry I am not an North Eastern Kentuckian…but a true West Kentuckian and St Louis Card fan. Go Cards!
Boo on the Cubs!

I really don’t like Ozzie Smith. Barry Larkin was my favorite player during my Little League days, and my “hero” when I became a short stop for my team. Year after year Ozzie would be the starting short stop for the All Star Game and Barry would be the backup… Barry often had better numbers than Ozzie, especially in Ozzie’s later years, but Ozzie would still be the starter. Needless to say, I was shouting for joy when Ozzie retired. Go Reds and go Larkin, Casey, Griffey and the rest of the boys!!!

I understand your frustration Chris. I was a huge Mark Grace fan growing up, since I was left handed and played 1st base in little league. He started playing about the time I got into baseball cards and baseball. I hated Will Clark of the Giants, cause he would always get the first base All-star position.
