New Stats
Having had my 100th comment last week (already up to 165 as of today!) has inspired me to list some additional stats about the activity on this website. You’ll notice on the lower left side of the page, under the archives, is a list of the top 10 commenters. This list will be updated daily for the time being, until I get it going in real time. These stats are based on the name that you use when you comment, so if you’ve used several different names, or no name at all, they’ll show up differently.
First person to 100 comments wins a prize! ![]()

What kind of prize are we talking about?
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 13:37:12
Um, well, you’ll just have to find out for yourself…
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 14:35:52
That was exactly what I wanted to ask, WHAT IS THE PRIZE?
So how did you get my total? You told me it wasn’t adding mine for some reason.
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 14:36:18
Oh, and are you ineligible?
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 14:36:46
I don’t think should be able to win your own prize.
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 14:37:11
But that is just my opinion.
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 14:37:59
Wow, looks like you have realtime working already, or you’re really quick on the updates!!
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 14:45:43
I wanna prize too!
GHT
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 15:08:46
lol, I should have seen this coming, especially from you, Jeff
Yeah, I guess realtime is working…cool
Nah, I won’t be eligible for my own prize. I’ll let you all fight over it, whatever “it” is. You do realize it’s gonna be something corny, though
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 15:18:38
What if we want a sneak peak at the prize? Make it a riddle to try to figure out too.
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 15:19:47
I don’t want anything corny, just something cool. And would I be eligible since I’m family?
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 15:23:54
yeah, you’ll be eligible for the prize, even if you’re family. You should get Elizabeth commenting too. Twice the chance to win
No promises on the coolness of the prize, though…
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 16:07:24
Shouldn’t family and co-workers be disallowed?
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 16:13:43
It’s not like family or co-workers get an advantage…
Hmm, I maybe I should disallow my cousin, though, since ALL he does is stay inside on the computer all day
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 17:43:21
This is cool.

Jun 23rd, 2004 at 17:50:52
Maybe the prize could be taking your little cousin paintballing!?
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 17:55:32
Chris, Its a great idea but now people might try to win by making corny comments just to try to get the most comments or by multi posting in a row.
Bryan, you must not spend as much time on the computer as your cousin thinks because your comment number is not much higher than mine. And I only comment in the evenings when I am home from work.
By the way Chris, the English guru from my site would have several things to say about this post. Though I didnt realize it until I was reading it to Ashlee and was adding things as I went.
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 18:35:06
In my defense, I was in the middle of a 4 and a half hour conference call when I wrote this post. Needless to say, my mind was turning into mush…
I found out that my cousin, Weekend Warrior, is grounded right now, so that’s why he hasn’t been posting comments much lately. As you can see, he posted quite a few today in his small window of internet time that he’s allowed… Now’s your chance to catch him! And yes, he does spend too much time in front of the computer and TV, anywhere outside, regardless of how it may seem.
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 19:14:02
Wow, we’re almost to 200 comments already! This will make 196. Took a while to get to 100, but we’re flying to 200. I’m sure I helped that by offering the “prize” and posting the comment stats, but oh well! Need to branch out and get new people into the mix though…
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 19:27:13
Somehow, I got a feeling I really don’t want to win this prize!
Jun 23rd, 2004 at 23:02:56
Really Jeff, You seem to be trying pretty hard to obtain the prize. You only posted 5 times in a row each with just a few words in it
I would say by now you are over your 200 comment mark. Congrats!
Jun 24th, 2004 at 00:30:24
Nah, I just kept thinking of things to say.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 08:01:02
Besides, Chris said that for some reason he didn’t have an accurate total of my comments up till now, so I am sure I was robbed.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 08:19:59
Don’t worry, Jeff, the comment totals are all fixed up now. I changed the couple you had posted as Galo Jay to Jeff so they are included in your totals.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 11:44:03
Jeff,
For someone who “doesn’t want the prize” you are awfully concerned about your numbers!
You know, I thought about tallying my comments but then I figured I’d encourage some dumb, corny comments or strings of one thought posted in various comments… It’s funny how our comment count means so much to us!
There’s a guy I went to college with who has a blog and no comments! I thought, “Wow! He really just blogs for the sake of writing.” Not me (and obviously none of us here). I blog for the interaction.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 12:30:22
Until Ashlee came to my blog, I had no comments. Now I have tons… Ashlee brings the masses.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 13:01:00
Yeah, some bloggers are about just sharing news and such with the masses. That’s not me, though. The more interaction I have with my readers, the better this site will be. Knowing people read what I write and share will motivate me to keep up with it, and to post good stuff, not just junk.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 17:00:10
Yeah if I wanted to read the news, I would go to google not to ChrisVaught.com or any other blog (sorry I didn’t want to start publisizing everyone)…. I go to your pages b/c I enjoy hearing from you. And you know, when you write a post and no one responds you wonder, “Did no one read it or was it just so boring and non-thought provoking that they had nothing to say.” Comments are definitely the fuel for blogging. I mean it’s also nice to be able to look back and know what has gone on in your life in the past in case you loose your personal journals, you’ll have some record of what’s gone on in your life, but the essence is the interaction- which I’m not going to get since no one will understand my messages! *Just a note, if you read this and it’s not in 1337 then he’s quit translating all of my messages, but for this moment, they all have the a’s changed to 4’s and the e’s changed to 3’s, and so on…
Jun 24th, 2004 at 18:23:01
I have no clue what you just posted ashlee.
Jun 24th, 2004 at 18:45:04
You know, I’m looking at the stats over there and realizing how *long* it took me to get to my measely 42 comments… and I’ll admit I’ve been temporarily encouraged to comment more, but I’m only 2/5 of the way there! So I think I’ll just stop *trying* and read and comment as I see necessary.
So has everyone seen this 1337 thing? If so, I think it can be turned off to make my messages easier to read.
Jun 26th, 2004 at 19:21:14
I will beat you guys. I swear I will lol.

Jun 26th, 2004 at 23:32:11
Bryan…Have you not figured out that we really dont want to win. We just enjoy talking to one another about things. Its not a contest
Jun 27th, 2004 at 12:29:52
Yes I know. I have a very belligerant (not spelled right I know) attitude. But you could probably see that. Ya see I’m 14 and Chris is 26. Because of my belligerant personally I’m always engaging in battles. (not like beating the tar out of someone, thats not what I meant) But since Chris is almost twice my age I ALWAYS LOSE IN BATTLES WITH HIM! AND I MEAN 100% OF THE TIME! He doesn’t just counter attack your strike… He comes back over and completly butchers your defense lol. I mean I’ve seen him do it to you guys before. I’m not trying to make Chris seem sinister. It’s just that I’m tired of losing my pride to his infinate strength. But I should just wait. Someday Chris will be old and wrinkled and I will be young, buff and sexy. Then I will be the one lifting him up on my shoulders not the other way around lol! (Whoops I didn’t want to give that away lol)
