Mediachest

This had already made the rounds on some blogs, but wanted to mention it again anyway.

Mediachest.com is a handy website that allows people to inventory their collections of books, CDs, DVDs, and video games. This inventory can then be shared with friends, and it will keep track borrowed and loaned items.

It’s pretty neat and saves me some time, since I wanted to have something similar on my website eventually. I’ve started my collection here:

The books section isn’t completely finished yet, and the CD section is lacking some. Hopefully I’ll finish my inventory up soon.

So far, it says my collection value is $4341. Whoa! That’s a pretty good chunk of change!

If you register, post a comment with your username so we can check out your collection.

  1. http://www.recordnerd.com is a similar site.

  2. whoops, pressed post. however, mediachest seems more comprehensive. i am smachel on recordnerd, if you want to see my list. it needs to be updated.

  3. Wow Chris that is a pretty good chunck of change and amazing how much we do spend on all of these types of media. Though I am sure thats off from what you really paid.

I didnt know you could do a book inventory too. I might have enough books to do a book inventory granted most of them are 200 miles away :-)

  4. I could probably beat that with my video games alone chris lol.

  5. I want in on this too. My library has swelled to record proportions. Probably too much trouble to log. But it would be a fun project some time.

  6. Well, just to give you all who are starting your list a tip, once you create an account you can view your friends’ lists and then select things that you all have in common and add them to you list. That’s the fastest way to find them. So I’d start there and then add the other stuff. My medieachest username is awheele1

  7. My username is Zeon_Soldier. I still have to put my super nes and nes games in there. I had trouble finding alot of CD’s (mostly blues brothers and Coldplay) And alot of books by this author I like (Whitley Strieber).

Man, Chris, you sure do find the coolest stuff to blog about… :-)
