The AP reports on Hikers Finish Continuous West Coast Trek. Nate Olive and Sarah Janes, ecologists from the University of Georgia, were the first people known to continuously hike the 1,800 mile West Coast Trail, a path running from northwestern Washington state to the southwestern corner of San Diego County. It took them three and a half months, averaging 20 miles a day, as they “threaded their way across beaches, rainforests and farm country. They marched around, and sometimes through, military bases. In mostly urbanized Southern California, they had to clamber over sea walls and jetties, many erected by homeowners trying to curb erosion, as well as dodge sewage-contaminated rivers.”
One of my life goals is to hike part of the Appalachian Trail, so I admire what this couple has done. Very cool!

Well, I did it. I turned in my resignation from Car-Part.com today, just a few minutes ago, in fact. It’s effective on Oct 13, so I still have 2 weeks left. I had been thinking about this for a while now, but I just got to the breaking point where I need to get out of here, even if I don’t have another job lined up. That’s what the prayer request was for last night. It’s scary to have a mortgage and all the other bills, but not have any other employment lined up. I’ve been looking for several weeks, with no luck yet, but things have deteriorated in Car-Part land so much that I just had to take that leap of faith and get out of this environment. I’m not sure what God has in store for me, but I’m putting it all in His hands now. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks
I’m facing a tough decision right now and would appreciate some prayers about it. I’ll give more details tomorrow, but please remember me in your prayers tonight and tomorrow. Thanks so much!
USA Today reports that Mount St. Helens is waking up. It’s last eruption was in 1986, and it’s been dormant since 2001. Siesmologist aren’t quite sure what to expect yet, whether or not it will erupt or just sit there and rumble, but after the huge eruption in 1980 that blew off part of it’s summit, they aren’t taking chances.
Nice, but long article on blogging and how it’s affecting the Presidential campaign: Fear and Laptops on the Campaign Trail.
It’s amazing how much blogging has taken off in the last year and the affect that they are having on everything from politics to technology and EVERYTHING in between. For one, bloggers are credited with breaking the truth behind CBS’ recent accusations about Bush’s guard service. Who knows what affect they will have in the election and other big stories…
