New Brand for Kentucky
Thanks to ChickenScratch for bringing this to my attention.
Governor Fletcher writes on kentucky.gov:
“We are in the process of creating a new brand for our great commonwealth. After months of hard work, research and tough decisions, we have narrowed a long list of possible brands down to four finalists.
From now through November 21, we will be accepting votes for your favorite from among the four. You can vote once a week, and the brand receiving the fewest votes each week will be eliminated. We’ll announce Kentucky’s official brand on November 24.”
You can vote at www.kentucky.gov/brand.

I like the “Where Legends Are Born” slogan, but not the logo. I think we need to get away from so much focus on horses, which is what everyone already knows us for. Of the logos, I like “Unbridled Spirit” the best.

I agree with Chris on teh two. The unbridled just seems to be too tall.
Maybe this will help us get away from these LAME license plates.
I don’t think you can get away from the horses though.

you can’t get away from the horses…unless you vote for the first one with Pegasus

well think of it like this….would ya rather be known for horses….or for being incest, barefoot rednecks? I think we can leave that rhetorical

Hmm, I just noticed that on each of the pics, there’s a TM by Kentucky. Is Kentucky really trademarked? Are other state names trademarked like that? Interesting…

I’d say it is the logo itself, font, slogan, and graphic.

The lame plates we have now need to go, and quickly….not a gay pride state.

We won first-place in a license plate contest with that plate.
Is the idea of this logo that it *would* get put on our license plates? I don’t ever remember “it’s that friendly” being our logo or even our way of life before the plates.

Nick I dont think It’s that friendly was a logo like they are trying to make this new logo. I think the new logo is definitely a marketing tactic for the whole state to spread our name. Which I have heard mention will lead into a license plate. I am just waiting til Dec to get one of the private college plates for my car. Though I dont have great hatred for our current plate. Apparently those outside of KY like it a lot better than Kentuckians do which is very interesting. Not sure what that says about the whole thing.

The idea is right now we have LOTS of marking things. “It’s that Friendly” “Where Education Pays” etc etc… I think they want to get to one slogan.
I’ve always had a specialty plate, so not a big deal for me. but it is a stupid plate.
