Another Trip

Wednesday morning, my dad and I set off for a trip down to my grandparents’ farm in Owensboro. I just visited my grandparents a couple weeks ago, but my dad, a landscaper, has a “tree farm” down there, where he plants trees young, and “harvests” them when they get big enough to use in landscaping. So, we headed down there to do some harvesting. It was good to see the grandparents again and have some great home-cooked meals. Mutton, Green River catfish, creamed corn, etc… Mmm!

On the trip down, I listened to some music that I hadn’t heard in a while. Nothing like a little Hootie and the Blowfish on a road trip! Also listened to Silers Bald “Real Life,” which is an excellent album and highly recommended.

As always, it was good to see family again, especially this time of year. Hope that each of you are able to spend time with family this holiday season.

  1. do you like catfish now? See what you have been missing all those years when we would eat it and you didn’t want any part of it.

  2. Well, I’m still not a big fan of seafood, but it’s growing on me. Still not as good as a nice juicy steak or chicken in my opinion.

  3. They say that your taste buds change every seven years so it is possible that while you disliked fish or seafood for awhile, you could begin to enjoy it. I am still working on the fish…yeah….

  4. Mine will never change enough to make me like broccoli!!
Anyone find it a coincidence that Chris gets a cat, and then starts liking Catfish? :)

  5. I still think of you when I hear Hootie and the Blowfish. Sometimes I think of KP and Hootie when I hear Sister Hazel. Aw, spring break memories…

  6. Yeah, there were some good memories from spring break… Remember this list?

  8. I cant do Catfish but croppie is pretty darn good. As far as the brocolli goes, add a lot of cheese to it for a while and you might be suprised about your taste buds for it. Granted I will only eat it coooked well.
