UK Update

UK LogoUK beat Ball State 73-53 tonight at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team knew Ball State wouldn’t be a pushover, since they returned 4 seniors from last year, 3 of them starters. This proved true at halftime, with the score tied at 29. UK didn’t look very sharp the first half, having a case of the fumble fingers and just not looking sharp on the offensive end. Things didn’t look much better in the second half, as Ball State took the lead for a while. Ah, but the fun was just about to begin! With about 10 minutes left in the second half, the team caught fire and stormed ahead for good. The big man Shagari Allenye put on quite a show, scoring a career-high10 points, with three dunks. Best, and longest, that I’ve seen him play so far at UK. Man, if he can get in the zone, our inside game will rock. Besides Allenye, there were three other UK players with double digit points - Sparks, Hayes, and Morris. Hayes had a double-double, adding 11 rebounds to his 10 points. Sparks ended up with 20 points, 12 of them from 3-pointers. About time that we had a point guard that can shoot threes. Thanks Western Kentucky! ;-)

I tried to take some pictures, but the memory card on my camera went kuput in the second half, so I think I lost everything. Bummer :-(

Next game is Friday night against Georgia State. Go Cats!
