It’s official. Kentucky’s new brand…drum roll please… is:

Unbridled Spirit

From kentucky.gov:

“After months of research and more than 50,000 votes, the people of Kentucky have chosen a new state Brand.

Kentucky is a place where spirits are free to soar and big dreams can be fulfilled. We relish competition and cherish our champions for their willingness to push beyond conventional boundaries to reach new heights of success.”

  1. I think this one was the dead heat winner from the beginning. It doesnt suprise me.

My dad asked a good question last night. Is Kentucky the Bluegrass State going to disappear now or will we still be considered the Bluegrass State. Last night, I said we would still have the Bluegrass State logo but now I am not so certain. Because if our license plates and welcome signs are changing where does the Bluegrass State logo remain.

On the local news here they showed the unveiling of a new Welcome Sign that had Unbridled Spirit on it. I assume it was at the Ohio River from Illinois.

  2. Well, right now the welcome signs all say “Where Education Pays.” I don’t think those signs have a mention of the Bluegrass State on them, but I could be wrong. I don’t think the license plates do either. We’ll always be the Bluegrass State, though, even it we don’t pronounce it on signs and such.

  3. I like this:
“7. When will we get rid of that annoying smiley face on our license plate?
A: We are aware of the strong feelings about the license plate and will change the design as soon as it is feasible. We are working with the Transportation Cabinet on the issue.”

  4. LOL on the license plate. Though I think its only Kentuckians that think the license plate is so bad. I have heard many others that dont see the issue with it.

  5. From where is that quote about the license plate?

Actually, our license plate won an award, as like… “best license plate” in the US or something. We beat out… Maine or somebody who had a lobster.

*Yay one of my quotes made the quote of the week! Err.. Einstein’s quotes.

  6. Whats wrong with home of Daniel Boone?
