Greetings from Western Kentucky
Hello everyone! Hope that you’re staying safe and warm wherever you may be. The family and I are here in Western KY, thankful that we came in yesterday rather than today. There’s been about 6-8 inches of snow so far, with it drifting much higher in places because of the wind. We’re supposed to get about 8 more inches, but I don’t think we’ll get that much in the end. It’s very cold here, too, especially with that windchill. Brr!
We had some extended family functions planned for the reminder of our time down here, but I don’t know if we’ll get to do them because of the weather. They also declared a snow emergency for the county, which means only emergency vehicles are allowed on the roads, so that could affect those plans as well.
Elizabeth, my brother’s fiancé is really enjoying the snow. She says it’s the most she’s seen before, and wants to go out and play in it. David and she did a little bit earlier in the day, but it didn’t last long since it was so cold.
At least we’ve had some good bonding time with the family, though. We had a great, very filling lunch (so filling, we didn’t have dinner!), and played some games, such as Scene-It and Scattergories. All in all, it hasn’t been so bad being stuck inside.
Anyone who’s traveling in the snow, please be careful and drive smartly. Take care and enjoy the holiday season!

Actually you might be suprised how much snow you get. Paducah already has a foot well that was almost 2.5 hrs ago.
Glad you are safe and sound. It will be a fun drive tomorrow. Lex/Gtown is very wet but thats about it. I think ice might be forming on the trees though.

U could totally crash at my house if needed. I mean crash as in stay here not as in flying off of the road.

It would be awesome to have a visit from the Vaughts, and an Elizabeth to boot.

I don’t think we’ll be going anywhere for a while. Last I heard, we ended up with about 19″ of snow (there was 24″ in Henderson, right up the road from here) and I-64, the BG, WK, and Pennyrile Parkways were all shut down. We canceled out family get together tonight and the one for tomorrow afternoon. A state of emergency is still in affect, so no cars are allowed on the roads. We’re still hoping to head home tomorrow, by going south then east rather than through Indiana on 64 like we normally do, but there’s no telling if we can even do that…

My dad works near Henderson. He made it home last night, after lots of adventures. He left his truck off the road overnight, rode behind a bulldozer, rode behind snow plows, and was waiting at a road when it was declared to be open… but he made it home, thankfully.
So if you’re taking a southern route that means you’ll be driving by me.
Merry Christmas Chris.

Glad that your dad made it home okay, Nick. That was quite an ordeal!

It’s so hard to read all of this and think that it’s as close to “home” as it is. There is absolutely no snow on the ground here! I can see all the grass and roads. That’s so unreal!

Sorry Ash that you have no snow. It is quite crazy the roads and the different conditions across the state. I have become somewhat accustomed to it because of the numerous trips I have made from snow to 50 degrees or ice to 2 feet of snow.
