Regional Differences

I noticed something interesting tonight while helping a friend get a blog setup. I noticed that my friends from “down south,” that I went to school with at Georgetown or know from Lexington mainly use Blogger.com for their blogs. On the other hand, most of my friends “up north,” here in northern Kentucky, use Xanga.com for their blogs. That in itself isn’t all that interesting, but I also noted, when I first transferred to NKU, a difference in IM programs being used. This isn’t all that relevant today, since most people use all the major services now, but at that time (in 2000), my down south friends used ICQ, while the up north people used AIM.

Hmm, I wonder what other technological differences there are between the north and south?
