Restoration!
Hot dog! Looks like I’m a little less moronic today than I was a few days ago
While looking through website stuff on my computer tonight, I ran across a database backup from Jan 6. See, I do back up! Previously, I thought my last database backup that I could use to restore my blog was from Nov 2, which is ANCIENT in blogging terms. You realize how many post and comments would have been missing?!? I shudder to think of that… Anyway, using that backup, some help from Google’s cache of my site and Paul, I’ve managed to restore all my posts with relative ease. The only catch is that the categories didn’t load right. Very minor in the grand scope of things, something which I can pretty easily fix over time. Also, I’ve lost about a week and a half worth of comments, those left from Jan 6 through Jan 17, which I’ll miss but can’t really do anything about. If you wish to go back and comment on a past post, feel free to, but I think the site’s in pretty good shape right now.
Word of warning that some of the past posts may not look right in the new design. Also, for those of you how have linked to particular posts, or categories, you may want to go back and check those and make sure they still link correctly.
Thanks, everyone, for your patience and help during this tumultuous time. The worst is over!
I’ll continue working on the new layout, getting it up to par with the old layout as far as content and features.
And I can cross off two more goals for 2005 - “Upgrade my blog software to the latest version” and “Redesign my website.” Those are D-O-N-E, done, albeit the hard way….
Thanks to my fave band Kutless for their awesome album Sea of Faces that kept me company and awake these past few very late (or early) nights. You guys rock!
Oh, guess what I’m doing right now. Backing up! ![]()
