I was gonna say, Coca-Cola is the #1 brand, not Apple. Heck people in Africa (I’ve been there) have never seen an Apple computer but love coca-cola.

Remember that this list was compiled by “branding professionals,” not the average joe on the street. I guess these professionals are looking at more than just how many people are aware of the brands. Probably looking at how much of an increase in brand recognition there’s been in the past year, or something like that.

The article uses the phrase “most influential brand”.
With that in mind, I can see Coca-cola not being in the top five.

The others didn’t surprise me, but Apple did. I don’t think of them as being inferior, but I wouldn’t put them at #1. I do think they should be in the top 5 though. It doesn’t surprise me to not see Disney there, though. After doing a study on them during one of my business classes at NKU, I’ve come to realize they are not doing as good as everyone thinks (mainly Michael Eisner’s fault)!! Very interesting article!!
