UK Rolls Over Miss. St.

UK LogoKentucky posted its highest point total of the season as they routed Mississippi State 94 to 78 tonight. It was a much needed blowout win, for both the team and the fans, since UK hasn’t been playing well lately. Their loss to South Carolina on Tues was a much needed wakeup call. As a result of the loss, Tubby reinstituted 6 am practices, focusing on the basics, in an attempt to cure what ailed the team. The team responded, as 7 Cats scored in double figures, giving Tubby his 12th 20-win season. Two freshman starters showed why they were so highly recruited and are in the lineup. Guard Rajon Rondo had 8 steals on the night, matching the single-game school record held by Wayne Turner. Center Randoph Morris had an impressive showing, scoring 17 points. All in all, it was a satisfying win, and I hope the team can build on it as they head into tournament time.

Lexington was also the setting for the College Game Day segments today. They had some nice interviews with Tubby and Ashley Judd (one of UK’s top fans, baby!). It was awesome to see all the fans that came out to represent the school. Go Cats!

  1. It was good that UK lost that game. I think it opened their eyes a little and gave them the motivation they need for the tournament. If Rondo stays at UK a few more years, he will be absolutely amazing.
