UNC Wins NCAA Championship
In a hard fought, back and forth, up and down game, the University of North Carolina prevailed over Illinois 75-70, giving Roy Williams his first championship in his many, many years of being a head coach. I’m glad to see Roy Williams win. He seems like a great guy and an awesome coach. I liked it better when he was at Kansas, but oh well…

With the UNC win, I’m a strong contender to win the bracket pool at work, since the person I was tied with picked Illinois. However, she had picked both Illinois and UNC in the final game, while I had Arizona and UNC. Not sure how the points are being awarded in these later rounds, but having picked the champion should offset not having picked both of the final teams. In the case of a tie, it comes down to the final score that we picked. I had predicted a final score of 77-71. Pretty close! I’ll let you know how I end up doing…

Lori T tied for her office pool…I think. My brackets were way off, but I didn’t put in on a pool cause I always lose. I would have rather seen Illinois win than UNC, though. Of my most disliked teams, UNC comes in a close second to Duke (even though I have to admit that both coaches are excellent). Anyway, did you see that one of Illinois’ players has his pastorial license? I believe it is Roger Powell Jr. He is taking classes to become an ordained minister. I saw a clip on him on ESPN. He said that even though he will probably go to the NBA, if he feels that God is calling him into ministry he will leave the NBA to be a pastor. It’s awesome to see a person that is in the spotlight willing to say he will turn down the temptations of this world to do the will of God!
