David’s Bachelor Party
My brother’s wedding is a week away. Wow! Seems like it was only a few months ago when he got engaged, even though it’s actually been more than a year.
With the wedding fast approaching, we had David’s bachelor party this past Friday. As the best man, I was tasked with the planning of the party. It was a little difficult since almost all of the guys who would be coming were down in Lexington and I had only met a few of them before, and then only briefly. In the hopes that I could get most of the guys to come, I decided to have the party down in Lexington rather than in Northern KY. Being out of town for me, I wanted to keep the party fairly simple on the surface. I decided that we’d all meet at Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and then head out to the Lexington Legends baseball game.
Thanks for Jeremy, Josh, Nick, Paul, Tim, and Van who joined us for the fun! We ate a variety of wings (Spicy Garlic and Thai were the faves, I believe) and played some trivia at Buffalo Wild Wings. The fun was just beginning, though. As we finished dinner, I pulled out a plain white T-shirt and some sharpies. The guys “decorated” the shirt and David wore it the rest of the night. I also had a purple and white boa to add to the “costume.” David’s goal for the night was to earn his ticket to the ballgame by getting at least 10 girls to write a message on the shirt. Because we were running late, he didn’t get a chance to reach the quota before the game, so we let him work on it during the rest of the evening.
After Buffalo Wild Wings, we headed down to the ballpark for the Legends’ game. Unbeknownst to us at the time, there was a rain-out the night before, so we actually got to see the last few innings of the first game and then our game. We had some great seats, 2 rows up from the field between home and first, right by the on-deck circle and the Legends’ dugout. When reserving the tickets earlier in the week, I tried to get in touch with some people from promotions and group sales about getting an announcement over the loud speakers and getting David on the field. After leaving several messages, I finally got in touch with someone about the announcement, but he couldn’t assure me that David would be on the field. Once at the ballpark, I found out from the other guys that they knew two people who worked at the stadium, and they hooked us up. Thanks Tracie Martin and Justin Ball! In between innings, Tracie got us all down on the field along with some younger kids for the chicken dance. Later on in the game, David was picked for the “home run challenge,” where he had to hit a ball off a tee over the outfield fence. He didn’t quite get it the first swing, but the second try made it over the wall. He got a water bottle as a prize
Throughout the evening, we had fun heckling the opposing team, helped out by the people sitting around us who decided to have fun with us, and having various people signing David’s shirt. We got both of the Legends’ mascots (Big L and Pee Wee) to sign it as well as one of the stars on the team, Hunter Pence. Some of the messages were hilarious, and I think David even got a phone number (ok, so it was 867-5309, but it’s still a number).
Thanks again to all the guys who came out. Hope you had a good time David.

Actually I already had plans that Friday night and was headed to Paris to watch a double feature at the drive-in but still that would have been fun.
