Bananas Comedy

I recently read an article in CCM Magazine about Christian comedy. In this article, several family-friendly comedy programs and comedians were introduced. One of these programs was the Bananas Comedy Show. Now, I have Dish Network and many of these programs are on smaller stations that I, and many others, don’t get, stations such as JC-TV, INSP, I-LIFE, and FAMILYNET. I figured I was out of luck being able to watch any of the shows. However, flipping through the channels one night, I reached AngelOne and lo and behold, Bananas Comedy is on!

I watched the episode that night, but I don’t remember which comedian was on. He wasn’t all that great and I didn’t laugh all that much. I decided to start recording some of the episodes, though, and see if the other comedians struck me as funny. I’m glad I did!

There was one comedian that made me laugh so hard that I was crying and my sides were hurting. This comedian was Taylor Mason. He’s a jack-of-all-trades, doing stand-up with a mix of music, puppets and other props. Absolutely hilarious! I typically don’t watch stand-up, and I sure didn’t expect what I thought was a small-time comedy show to have anyone who was all that great, and boy was I proved wrong. I still laugh out loud about it when I think about it. I was trying to describe it to my friend Lori and I couldn’t stop laughing long enough to get anything out. Taylor Mason definitely hit my funny bone.

Unfortunately, the hard drive in my DVR crashed and I lost my recordings, so I can’t put up my favorite segment, but here is one clip taken from Taylor’s website (click “more” below).

  1. did you try any bit torrents?

  2. Yeah, I checked for torrents, but didn’t find anything. This is too “small time” for anyone to create torrents.

  3. Now that Dish has dropped Angle Broadcasting, where do we go?
