Independence Day for Transformers
Via Yahoo! News
Transformers, the long-planned, live-action movie based on the robot-morphing cartoon, comic and toy franchise, will roll into theaters July 4, 2007, DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures announced Wednesday.
Michael Bay (The Island, The Rock) will direct;
Steven Spielberg will executive produce.
Dreamworks, Bay and Spielberg… Quite a line-up! Almost makes me think this will be good, which I hope it is.
What worries me is this promise, and the hype that will come from it:
In a message board Monday post on his personal Website (www.donmurphy.net), Don Murphy, a Transformers co-executive producer, said Spielberg, DreamWorks and Hasbro are committed to making a film that is no less than “GREAT” (the capital letters are all his).
“It will be GREAT,” Murphy continued, “and then we will make sequel after sequel. There is no doubt that this is true.”
Now my hopes and expectations are set high. Bring it on!

is it going to be animated or live action? it would be hilarious to see people in transformer suits. hopefully animated. that’s the only way it can be “GREAT.”

Well, they’re saying it’s going to be live action, but I bet a good deal of the movie will be CGI (computer generated). Don’t know how “GREAT” it’ll be as “live looking” transformers versus the animation we’re used to. Puts some doubt on the greatness in my opinion.

If the little video clip of the car transforming at the gas station is any indication, then I thinkthey will be able to do an excellent job with it (at least I hope they do)!
