Scary
So, I wake up this morning, shower, and come downstairs for a bite to eat. About 5 minutes before 7, I head back upstairs, but on the way up, I step on something. It’s light enough outside that I hadn’t turned on any lights, but still dark enough that the house isn’t fully illuminated. I bend down to see what I had stepped - it’s a bullet! Holy cow! I turn on the light in the stairwell and see plaster fragments scattered all over the floor. Looking up there’s a hole in the ceiling. Yikes! Could a stray bullet have made it through the roof then through the ceiling? I wouldn’t think so, and I don’t remember hearing shots last night and I begin thinking about the stories I’ve heard concerning people living in attics…
To make the story short (I gotta get back to work), there’s no one in the attic. The Sheriff’s officer just left a few minutes ago and says that a bullet can have enough momentum to carry it through the roof and ceiling. He saw black on the bullet which he thinks is a sign that it came through the shingles.
So, now I have a hole in the roof and the ceiling at a time when it’s supposed to rain for several days straight. At least I have the bullet as a souvenir
I’ll put a picture up later.

wow, that is pretty crazy! if someone shot it up into the air, it woudl def. have the momentum to do that I would think. crazy world - those rednecks and their guns

that’s kind of creepy considering the neighborhood you live in

Oh my goodness! Ben and I are wondering how the heck something like have could have happened. Ben says “that is crazy go nuts!” We are glad you and Smokey are ok.

Thanks guys. Yeah, Smokey is okay as well. Definitely not something you expect to happen in Burlington, but I guess all the pollution is getting to people
It’s still sinking in what happened, especially when I look at the bullet. Doesn’t help that my co-workers are saying “You could have died in your sleep!” Makes ya think….

That is crazy….reminds me of an episode of CSI (the original). Glad you and that cat are unhurt from it.

Yeah, I thought of two CSIs…First was the one where the guy hid in the attic spying on a girl or something like that. I think Nick or Sarah got hurt or a bad scare in that one too. The other one I thought of was about the guy who was doing target practice at his house but got distracted and fired a shot into the air, which killed a lady quite a ways away.

Wow, that’s crazy insane!! I’ve heard about stories like that, but I didn’t think the bullet would have enought speed to do much damage. I figured the terminal velocity would be a lot slower than the speed it is fired at, and it wouldn’t go through much. Hmm, guess I’m wrong! Glad your ok.

Glad your Ok.

That is just crazy. Glad that all are okay. Hopefully the rain wont cause much additional damage until you can get the roof fixed.

I was thinking of the second one you had mentioned, the target practice episode. I had forgotten about the other one.
