16 Things that Really Annoy Most Web Users
Real Tech News reports on the 16 Things that Really Annoy Most Web Users

I agree that popups are incredibly annoying, but they don’t bother me since I’m a Firefox users. So, since that’s not #1 on my list, I would definitely move the “registration” annoyance to the top. There is a website, bugmenot.com, that helps out with this, but it’s still very annoying to me. Number two on my list is ads, especially the animated ads, that are on found on most websites these days. Thankfully, Firefox has a plugin that is helping me “clean up” the sites that over do it. “Requiring installation of extra software to view the site” is also up there on my list, as is out of date content.
What are your top annoyances?

I completely believe pop-ups are evil. And I’m not very computer literate (as you already know) so I do not know of this firefox thing. But asking what our top annoyances are is a vague question. Although you mentioned it in a post under things that really annoy most web users the question can be interpreted in a more broad manner–which is the way I chose to interpret it. So my top annoyances are 1) guys who don’t regularly floss their teeth, 2) dirty bathrooms, and 3) my sister’s nickname for me. Oh, and I’m currently annoyed by the string of boys who are younger than my baby sister hitting on me. How’s that for a super long comment

Spyware is my Number One pet peeve! I think I’ve done EVERYTHING I can possibly do to prevent infection thereof, and yet, I cannot possibly keep up with the spyware fight.
Pet Peeve Number Two: When my anti-virus finds/detects a “threat” and when it goes to automatically fix it, I get the “delete failed” message and the recommendation that I delete it manually. I hate deleting manually. It rarely works. What do I pay my AV subscription for? Tear it out by the roots if you have to, Nortons–just delete it!

Kris - try Pest Patrol for spyware removal and monitoring. Its a great program that was recently acquired by McAfee (www.pestpatrol.com).
For the viruses and threats, it can’t delete them because they are currently running. The system may not allow the AV software to kill the running process. And, if it does, then it may cause other problems if there are certain registry associations with that file. When in doubt, try booting your PC to safemode and re-run the scan then. Another good AV/As tool is http://antivirus.housecall.com

Yeah, but the problem with any McAfee product is that they install their own adware…..boo McAfee. I would stick with Spybot or Adaware to remove spyware and adware, and for antivirus I’d go with Avast!! Plus, Adaware now scans and kills running processes that are considered spyware or adware.

Forgot to mention that all of those are free.
