Well, there still is no resolution on the problems that are plaguing my website. My webhosting company, bluehost (they don’t get a link until the problem is fixed!), has stated that they’ve had some problems with MySQL (the database) throughout the day, though. From the testing and debugging that I’ve done so far, my problem appears to be at least related to their problem, if not directly a result of it. My thought is that some setting got reset to a default or different value, and that setting is interfering with the operation of my site. I’m spare you the gory details

So, for the time being, the Shoutbox, Poll, and various other aspects of the site will be non-functioning. This may include the comments, though I’m not convinced that they don’t fully work yet. To make things a little more hassle-free, and to minimize downtime should something related go belly-up, I’m changing the default theme to the Zen Minimalist. This theme doesn’t have the shoutbox, poll and such, so if one of them goes down again, the site should still work correctly, if limited in functionality. If you’ve changed the default theme to one of your choosing, this won’t affect you.

Luckily, I have backups saved, so if need be, I can restore my site back to the state in which it existed on Sunday. I’ve already done this to some extent, just to rule out that I had done something wrong, but that didn’t help.

Sorry about the inconvenience. I gotta go to bed now or I’m gonna be miserable tomorrow. Hopefully something will get resolved by tomorrow…er…today.
