BookCrossing
I haven’t looked at this site in much detail yet, but from what I have read, it sounds interesting, so I’ll pass it along.
What is BookCrossing?
bookcrossing
n. the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise.(added to the Concise Oxford English Dictionary in August 2004)
Basically, this site is the “base of operations” for bookcrossing, where you can register a book that you’ve left somewhere or look for a book left by others.
The “3 Rs” of BookCrossing…
- Read a good book
- Register it here (along with your journal comments), get a unique BCID (BookCrossing ID number), and label the book
- Release it for someone else to read (give it to a friend, leave it on a park bench, donate it to charity, “forget” it in a coffee shop, etc.), and get notified by email each time someone comes here and records journal entries for that book.
Interesting concept. Looks like there’s a handful in my area, so I may pick one up just so I can see what it’s like. Doubt it’ll be something that I really get into though.
