The E-Mail Time Capsule

Hmm, this is an interesting idea from Forbes.com:

The E-Mail Time Capsule

It brings up some issues, though, some of which they address in the article.

  • Will your email provider still be around?
  • Will you still have the same email address?
  • Will you still check that email address?
  • Will email itself still be used?
  • Will Forbes and the other companies still exist and be interesting in this project?
  • Will the Internet still exist in a state that will handle email?
  • Will you still be alive then?
  • Will anyone still be alive then?

Those are just a few questions that popped into my head, without thinking about it too much. I’m going to try it and have a message sent to me at each of the intervals. Not sure what I’ll write yet, though…

  1. So what did you end up writing to yourself?

  2. That’s for me to know ;-) I did receive the email, though. Wasn’t quite as surprising as I thought it would be (or was hoping it would be). A year isn’t that long ago…
