Job Update Part Deux
I had a meeting with my current supervisor, my department manager and the manager of the department to which I am transferring today to discuss when I would begin work as an Assistant Data Manager. We decided on 4 January 2006. I’ll finish out the year in my current department and start off the new year with a brand new position!
As for what I’ll be doing, he’s what the job posting says:
Title: Assistant Data Manager/Data Programmer
Department: Data Management/Data TransfersCreating and managing lab databases resulting from the execution of clinical trials and research protocols
In a nutshell, I’ll manage databases which contain the results that the labs have generated and program reports that will be transferred to drug companies, such as Merck, NovoNordisk, Takeda and AstraZeneca. A certain level of quality control is also involved, but that’s what I’m doing now, so I’ll have no problems with that. Once I’m immersed in the position and understand it better, I’ll share more info.

The company Christmas party is this Sunday at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Should be fun!
One of the older ladies who works in the lab is playing matchmaker. She asked me if I was dating anyone and when I said no, her eyes lit up. She said that there were a couple people in the lab who had been talking about me and one of them had sent her to find out more about me. The next day, a co-worker from my department saw this lady talking about me to three other girls in the breakroom. Umm, okay….
Mid-November, PPD offered a $50 gift card to all MRL employees to use at their online store. PPD bought MRL a couple years ago, but the full transition to the PPD name was just completed and this was their was of welcoming us aboard. They had some really nice stuff on the site and $50 was more than enough to load up on PPD branded items. I’m liking this corporate environment thing

Go Cbass, go Cbass, go, go, go Cbass!

Good luck with the women as well
Update on the “girl situation” – there is no situation
One of my female co-workers was curious (she was curious, not me – I was just going to let it go) and started asking around about who was inquiring about me. Turns out no one was. The older lady was just trying to play matchmaker, without any prompting by anyone else. And the conversation that my other co-worker overheard wasn’t about me in particular, but about the Support department guys in general. Besides, all the girls that were in the conversation were already engaged or dating someone.
