2006 Goals

8

In January 2005, I posted some goals that I wanted to achieve for the year, thinking that publicly stating them would help hold me accountable and be mindful of them. I wasn’t quite as successful as I had hoped, but I still liked the idea of giving monthly updates as a way to track my progress. Therefore, I’m going to do it again this year, though the goals are going to be different in their overall aim – more goals that I can check off (fewer recurring/continuous), not quite as “hard,” and I threw in some fun ones as well.

  • Learn to whistle loudly using my fingers
  • Learn three card tricks
  • Learn five origami models
  • Redecorate/organize my family room and den
  • Get involved in a puppet team
  • Take a small business development class
  • Get A+, i-Net+ and/or SAS certified
  • Take a week-long vacation and visit another state and national park on my list
  • Find a church home
  • Have a consistent daily quiet time
  • Have 200 Bible verses memorized
  • Swing dance at least once a month
  • Be more punctual

[Update #1: Added punctuality, origami]
[Update #2: Added bible verses]

I can teach you how to whistle loudly. And a week-long vacation someplace sounds fun. If you need someone to help you with that one, just let me know. (we still need to go hiking down at Cumberland Falls).

Yeah, we never did get down there last year. That would be a good extended weekend trip to take. I’m still trying to decide which state/park to go to, though I’m leaning towards Maine/Acadia.

I can teach you 2 origami models. A know the crane, and a 3-D blow-up cube. I used to know how to do tons of them, but that was back in my pre-teen days. I also know a kick-butt card trick, actually I’ve only ever told one person how to do it, so you’d have to beg me.

I know how to do the flapping crane, but that’s the only one I remember from my origami days. I want to learn the blow up frog, but I don’t know what else yet.

I’ll have to find a way to get that card trick out of ya :-)

    We’ll see. Sorry about the double-post :-)

  7. Grandpa says:

Never was able to whistle like that. Nothing came out but spit. Grandma had two brothers that could break you ear drums. Sorry they are both dead. Maybe grandma knows how. card tricks? How about the wizard? Have to practice on that one.

  8. Grandpa says:

Oh about your trip. Which ever park you pick, Be careful and have a boat load of fun.
