Cheeseburgers in Paradise

This past Friday night, I joined my co-workers for another one of our outings. (They were co-workers from my old department - my new department doesn’t get out much…) We typically get together outside of work at least once a month and the outing is usually centered on food. :-) It all started with a going away party for two co-workers at Hofbrauhaus Newport (German food). Since then, some of our food destinations have included Buca de Beppo (Italian), P.F. Chang’s (Chinese), Amol India (Indian) and Montgomery Inn (Ribs -they’re in a class by themselves! :-) ). Almost all of these restaurants were firsts for me and I’ve enjoyed trying new things.

This time, though, we went for some good ol’ American food at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Wow - excellent food! I had the “What’s Shakin, Bacon? Burger” and it just melted in my mouth. One of the best burgers I’ve had in quite a while. I’m craving another right now. Their fries were awesome as well, nicely seasoned and not too potatoey. For dessert - Chocolate Nachos, with Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. Mmm! Even if you’re not a burger fan, they’ve got plenty of other entrees that look just as great. I highly recommend Cheeseburger In Paradise!

Cheeseburger in Paradise

Next destination? Probably seafood at Mitchell’s Fish Market.

  1. I’m glad you had a better experience there than we did. We (wife, kids, myself, and one set of in-laws) went within a few months after the one in Eastgate opened and the burgers might as well been charcol. The service was OK, nothing to write home about but, no complaints either. Maybe I’ll give them another chance…

  2. (this is paul on emily’s computer)
There used to be a restarunt in erlanger called Cheeseburgers and Beer. By the time I went to try it out, they were closed (it is now Margaritas). I’ve had the german food, wasn’t too impressed. Maybe Car-Part shoudl do this kinda thing!

  3. Maybe we (Car-Part) should do something like that.

  4. Sorry Chris, but I can’t help envisioning a dead cow melting in your mouth. Yuck!

  5. I’ve heard about Cheeseburgers in Paradise from my cousin in Indy. Where is the one around here? It sounds yummy!

  6. I am too a fan of Cheeseburger in Paradise. Good food, fun enviorment and the prices aren’t too bad. I have only been there once but I definetly want to go back. I wanted to try the chocolate nachos but was way to full from the burger…maybe next time.

What did you think of the Hofbrauhaus? I LOVE it!

  7. The only Cheeseburger in Paradise in this area is in Eastgate, not far from the mall.

The Hofbrauhaus was fun. I only had the pretzels (huge and a lot of them), so I’m not sure how their “real” food is. They had a German band playing the night I went, too, which definitely added to the atmosphere :-)

  8. Chris,
Your Grandma used to work behind the meat counter at the old Albers. You could never get her to eat ground meat anyplace. She buys steak and grinds her own. We went to Smokey bones and she got ribs and she hardly touched them. They looked raw and that is bad for pork I had steak and it was tough. So much for the graveyard.

  9. Lol, grandma was always particular about her meat at restaurants. Lots of embarassing moments there :-) Now I know why

  10. I can’t wait till food starts tasting really good. Right now everything kinda makes me queasy. Especially the thought of cooking hamburger. Bluh. The joys of pregnancy!

  11. tomorrow i’m going to a new place called mejana on 6th street downtown. It’s a Lebanese/mediteranean restaurant.

  12. Let me know how it is. Could be my next destination :-)

  13. There is a little Thai joint across the street from the 5/3 building on 6th street that I want to try out.

  14. Chris, You don’t really know why she is so particular. I didn’t want to spoil your appetite but when they grind hamburger, they throw in every thing to make it red. My mother used to go in and ask for hamburger and she would not sell it to her, Hot dogs you know when they get old they get sticky and her job was to wash them. She also found the grinder with maggots in it. Sorry, maybe they have changed but I doubt it, Check the dates on meat when you buy it. Love Grandpa

  15. Vegetable soup anyone?
