2006 Goal Tracking
- Learn to whistle loudly using my fingers
No progress yet
- Learn three five card tricks
No new progress - still two down, three to go.
- Learn five origami models
No new progress - still 3 down, at least 2 to go.
- Redecorate/organize my family room and den and spare bedroom
No new progress. Next on the list is a library unit, though it’s for another room. I’ve got too many books now and they’re stacked everywhere and falling off the shelf, so I’m going to move on from the family room to my spare bedroom for the time being
- Get involved in a puppet team
No new progress.
- Take a another small business development class
Completed - I went to the class “Secrets to Starting Your Own Business†in Feb. The SBDC at NKU offers these free classes, so I’m going to look into taking some more, specifically “Accounting & Financial Management†and “Financing Your Business†- No new progress
- Get A+, i-Net+ and/or SAS certified
No new progress.
- Take a week-long vacation; visit another state/national park on my list
I’ve been looking through the brochures, magazines and tour books that I have, listing places in New England that I want to go. Lot more than I expected, so I just might have to divide the trip into two - ME/NH/VT in one trip and MA/RI/CT in another. I’m not yet sure which I want to do this fall.
- Find a church home
No new progress.
- Have a consistent daily quiet time
No new progress.
- Memorize 200 Bible verses
Spent the month reinforcing the approx 110 verses I had memorized over the past 3 months. There were about 15 that I had trouble with, but the rest have stuck. This month, I’m going to work on the reverse - making sure I know the reference from the verse. I’ve been memorizing the verse from the reference, so I want to make sure I know them backwards and forwards
- Swing dance once a month on average
Well, my Thursdays (and month in general) were busier than normal so I didn’t make it to swing. Have some catching up to do
- Be more punctual
Did well this month
- Run a 5K
I’ve been getting a lot of exercise, but it hasn’t so much been focused on running. Lots of bike riding as well as hiking, tennis, paintball, etc. As for following the The Couch to 5K program, I only on Week 2, Workout 2.

Do you think it would be goot put these in priority? Finding a Home Church and Quiet Time have been on your goals for 18 months with little success, so you should maybe put those to the top.

These aren’t in any particular order at all. Learning to whistle with my fingers isn’t my top priority by any means. To me, it won’t make a difference which order they’re posted on the website.
Finding a church home is difficult because I’m not feeling a call for any local churches and I’m hesitant to go to churches that are farther away. I guess I need to take that leap, though.
For quiet time, I’m just stuck in a rut. I hit snooze too much in the morning then forget to save time for God as I’m rushing to get ready. I try at night, but end up staying up too late and fall asleep during prayers, reading and such. I need to change my behaviors.

Maybe you should write an action plan for each one.
Good job on writing them down and continually reviewing (even when you’ve failed!)
I think this summer I’m going to read Getting Things Done to try to learn to manage my life better.
At least, that’s a goal of mine.

I agree with Jeff. I was noticing the same thing about the church home, and remembering how you’ve been looking for quite some time. You have to go and try to get involved before you’ll be able to make the best decision as well. As far as the running you could always come down here and do the music city marathon. I think I may try to run it next May.

Dave, I’ve done the thing with getting involved without liking the preaching, or the church in general. That’s why I left my last church. I was very much plugged in and active with the church, but the preaching and beliefs of the denomination didn’t sit well with me. I ended up sticking around longer than I should have and it took a lot of tugging to get me out of there and looking elsewhere. I won’t make that mistake again, so I’m making sure the preaching and beliefs of the church fit with what I believe first this time around, then I’ll get more involved.
