OptOutPrescreen.com is a centralized service to accept and process requests from consumers to “Opt-In” or “Opt-Out” of firm offers of credit or insurance. OptOutPrescreen.com is a joint venture among Equifax Information Services, LLC, Experian Information Solutions, Inc., Innovis Data Solutions, Inc., and TransUnion, LLC (collectively the “Consumer Credit Reporting Companies”).

You have the option to opt-out for 5 years or permanently, as well as opt-in if you’ve opted-out previously. I opted out for 5 years a month or two ago and haven’t missed the “junk” mail yet. These apps aren’t completely useless, though. If I wanted to apply for a home equity line of credit down the road, (money for home improvement, for example), I’ll opt-in again. Or just watch T.V. or google for it
