Wow-Wii
I finally had my first experience with the Nintendo Wii yesterday! My cousin got one for Christmas and brought it to our family Christmas gathering. I knew it was small, especially compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360, but after seeing it in person, it really is compact, about the size of a CD/DVD-ROM drive. The controllers were smaller than I thought, too.
We hooked up, turned it one and jumped right into Wii Sports.
One word can describe this: fun! If I could use another: workout! I was tired by the time we finished…and sweaty.
Wii Sports has several games on it - tennis, bowling, boxing, golf, baseball. I kicked butt at tennis and baseball, but got hammered in bowling and boxing. Didn’t get a chance to play golf. It took only a few seconds to get used to the motion-sensitive remote, but once I did, it really opened up a new world. In baseball, for instance, you swing the remote like a bat and the speed, angle, etc. of your swing determines how the bat is swung in the game. I hit two homeruns and one by mercy rule my first game.
Of course, this sensitivity to everything is what got me in bowling. I twisted my wrist/arm at the end of my bowling swing, so the ball always curved. It was frustrating for a while until I learned to compensate. My aunt, who has a bad back and can’t go bowling in real life, was able to bowl on the Wii and really enjoyed it, especially when she handily beat me!
I agree with what many reviewers and friends have said - this is the ultimate fun, social gaming console.

Emily and I played it this weekend as well. We played boxing, baseball, tennis, bowling, and she played a round of golf. We also played Excite Truck which was a load of fun!
) My fastest pitch was only 94 mph - Emily had a 95mph which was the fastest out of us all.
I’m looking forward to buying. I’ve only owned an NES, SNES, and recently inherited an N64 (still have the SNES too). I owned a PS2 also, but only for the purpose of selling it for $700 on ebay a week after buying it.
Emily really loved the wii as well, so it will be cool that she will want to play it.
I agree with you on the workout part! Holy smokes did I sweat! Esp. during boxing! and my shoulder is still recovering from pitching in baseball. (And its not that I’m a wussy…its the shoulder I hurt from my motorcycle accident!

I tried it out this weekend too. Just to give you forewarning, you probably don’t want to go against me in bowling. I kicked some major behind!!! I got over 200 pts in one round(now if only I could bowl that well in real life)! We also played the tennis and baseball, didn’t do so great at those, especially tennis. It was a lot of fun though!

Too bad we didn’t get Grandma to try it hah. =].
Peace.

Hmm, Mindy, I can beat you in real-life bowling, and you think you can beat me at Wii bowling. Considering you beat me at EVERYTHING else, I don’t think I wanna chance it…
