2006 Blog Stats

Here are some blog stats for 2006:

  • I wrote 270 posts, down significantly from 479 in 2005 and 378 in 2004.
  • There were 861 comments posted, down significantly from 1478 in 2005 and 1942 in 2004.
  • The average post length was 1370 characters, up from a 1235 character average in 2005 and 883 in 2004.
  • Total post length was 369942 characters, down from 591062 characters in 2005 and 333824 in 2004.

Wow, the number of posts was really down this year. I know I took some breaks throughout the year, and had some website issues, but didn’t think the number would be that low. However, when looking at the average post length stat, I realize that I’ve written more in the entries I have posted. That makes me feel better. Like I set out to do a while ago, I wanted to write more personal and meaningful posts, and it seems that I have this year.

Here’s to another great year!

  1. I think it is very interesting to look at these stats over the years and see the changes. It brings a perspective to life that we don’t always take a look at. Busy lifestyles bring us fewer commenting and posting. Deeper meaning to life and what we want to share changes things as well. There are so many factors and for each of us the stats probably brought about different thoughts.

    A couple that I had:
    - There was the commenting contest at the beginning.
    - The new fad everyone was posting and commenting.
    - Feeds and now people rarely touch your actual page.
    - My busy life definitely kept me away from blogs the first half of the year, while bloglines brought me back to reading and commenting.

  2. All true…Looking back, I often wondered what happened to former readers and/or commenters. My friend Jennifer post the very first comment but hasn’t left one since. Ashlee, Nick and you used to comment all the time but I haven’t seen anything from Ashlee in Nick in ages. Yeah, times change, people move on, etc. Feeds definitely have an impact.
