ok, questions: 1. how does one reformat a computer? and b. does that mean i will lose everything that i’ve saved to it like music, word documents, and stuff?

1) very carefully
2) yes, unless you back it up first
Basically, reformatting is wiping the hard drive clean, removing everything from it and then reinstalling Windows and all your other programs. If you want to save anything, back it up on a CD(s) and we can restore. This is a last ditch effort, but there may be so many things hosed up that it’ll tough to get everything working again…
