Snow Day!

Ah, finally a good snow! It’s not really winter until we’ve had a nice multi-inch snow that brings the city to it’s knees. :-) Right now, there’s a little over an inch on the ground, with up to 6 more on the way. Thankfully, I was allowed to leave work early - and not a moment too soon. As much as I love when it snows, I hate driving in it. The Mustang doesn’t handle slick roads very well at all. I left around 1:45pm and the normal 25 min drive took more than twice as long. The roads weren’t bad, either icy or backed up, when I first left, but by the time I got to halfway home, the snow was piling up quick and the traffic had slowed to a crawl. Even now, the tire tracks in my driveway from 30 minutes ago are gone. I’m home now, thinking about what chore I should tackle first. How about curling up on the couch with a bowl of ice cream and a movie? Sounds good to me! Travel safely everyone, and stay warm!

In other news, keep my maternal grandpa in your prayers. He’s currently in the hospital with some heart issues. He went in for outpatient surgery, but the doctors noticed his heart was racing and decided to keep him overnight for observation. Hopefully it’s just the anxiety and nervousness surrounding the surgery and not anything worse and he can be released tomorrow.

  1. ice cream and a movie does sound pretty dang good.

  2. Yeah, they let us out of school an hour early today.
And they’ve already called off school for tomorrow.

  3. Agree the winter is not really complete without a nice snowfall. This is actually our second nice snowfall with a few smaller ones in between. Classes are still on here. I even tracked across campus to go to one this evening. Glad you made it home safely. Isn’t ice cream a bit cold for a cold day like this.

  4. I don’t think they let us out here for anything. Did they when you were here, Chris?

  5. Hmm, not that I can remember. And even if they did, I would have to work from home.
  6. Two or three years ago when we had that heavy storm overnight (ice and snow), we were allowed to work from home. I also seem to remember a day when it got nasty and people left early.
I just put the durango in 4wd and go on my merry way!

  7. You made me think of one time when it snowed and Roger started walking down the Orphanage Rd hill to work. I think they eventually sent Bob out to pick him up at the bottom.
