New Job

I have a new job! Well, sort of… On Friday, my boss approached me about a job opening in the company and thought I would be a good candidate for it. This was a position I’ve had my eye on for a while, so I immediately said I was interested. The job was posted intra-company and three candidates expressed interest. Interviews were on Tuesday and I was offered the position today!

And now I’m exhausted. I’ll be splitting my time 50/50 between my current job and new for a while, so it’s going to be crazy. Both jobs are in the same department (Data Management), so it’s a horizontal move, but I will be going back to one of my loves - web programming. Yay! It won’t be web programming like I’ve done before, but it’s still web-oriented, so that’ll do.

It’s gonna be tough for a while, getting trained on and learning new things while still trying to keep most of my current workload, but I think it’s a great opportunity.

Two years with the company and this is my third job there…I really would like to stay in a position long enough to become an expert, but with opportunities such as this, it’s hard to stay in one place.

  1. Good luck with that. We are looking at moving a lot of our programs over to web based applications. Unfortunately, most of the programming will be done in Java or Coldfusion….but it’s better than mainfraiming it ;-) I haven’t gotten the chance to work on one of our new projects, but hopefully I will soon!!

  2. Ooh, I didn’t spell mainframe right….not that mainframing is a word, but at least I could have gotten the base word spelling correct. Oh well!

  3. congratulations! i hope you don’t get overworked.

  4. Congrats, Chris!!! Sounds like things are going well for you.

  5. What language are you going to be using?

  6. Unfortunately, I’ll still be using SAS, the SCL flavor. Wish I could get back into Perl…

  7. Congrats Chris! Isaac says hi and congrats as well. I hope they don’ work you too much and that they do find a replacement on the other side. Doing two jobs as one is not a lot of fun.

Good luck and keep us posted.

  8. Hey! Congratulations!!!!
