Jott

Now here’s a handy new service, one that I’ve taken advantage of many times since I signed up.

Have you ever …
… felt like you don’t remember things you should? Gifts to buy, a stroke of genius, a song to download, a cab fare?
… wanted to send an email or text message to somebody while in your car (and not take your eye off the road)?
… needed to get a message to a group of people, but couldn’t (or didn’t want to) make a bunch of separate calls.

Jott.com

Jott is “Mobile Note Taking and Hands-Free Messaging.” Basically, you call a toll-free number, say to whom you want the message to be sent (you can send messages to yourself or any other contacts you have added) and talk away (well, for 30 seconds, I think).

I’d probably be posting twice as much if I had some way to record what I was thinking while driving. Now I do…no more excuses :-)

I used to call the answering machine on my home phone line and leave messages to myself, but since I only have my mobile phone now, that method doesn’t work anymore. I leave voice notes on my phone, but always for get to check it. Jott is perfect, since the messages I leave are transcribed and emailed, and the original audio is available as well.

Yeah, it’s on speed dial ;-)
