Intimidation

I went down to Cincinnati’s convention center today to pick up my packet, number, timer chip, etc. for the big run tomorrow. Wow! The place was teaming with people from all over the country. When I did the Redlegs 5K last year, the packet pick-up was basically in an office at the ballpark with only a few people there at the time. The Flying Pig registration, on the other hand, took up several convention halls. There were row after row of vendors and sponsors (it was a maze getting through them all) and lots of registrants who actually looked like they knew what there were doing. :-) I realize that not everyone there was participating in the 5K, but the magnitude of the Flying Pig event itself really hit me when I was there. I can only imagine how many people will be running the 5K, but it sure seems like it will be a lot more than the Reds’ 5K. Yeah, I’m a little intimidated and overwhelmed now…

  1. You will do great. Don’t get stressed about the number of people. Focus on your game, and you will do wonderful.

  2. Just remember…you’ll be ahead of at least one person!!

Was only about 10 people there counting the event staff. The day the ride started, was much more intimidating. Realality of what I was doing had set in…
