Marathon Musings
I ventured into Cincinnati today to watch part of the Flying Pig marathon and to cheer on my friend Carrie who was running it. Wow, that was something! It’s one thing to hear about marathons, but quite another to be in the thick of it watching the runners and supporters. Truly an awesome sight! My admiration goes out to those who can run for over 26 miles, which seems to be on average about 4hrs of running. Wow! It takes strength of will and dedication to training to pull off something like that. I highly doubt I’ll ever get to that level, but it’s something to shoot for. After my Flying Pig weekend, I’m more motivated than ever to get into this “running thing” and I’m even thinking about joining a running club. Training on my own thing will only get me so far… I also decided I’m going to do the Redlegs 5K again, on June 3. Last year’s goal was to finish, which I did. My goal for the Flying Pig was to run the entire distance, which I did. My goal this time? To finish in under 30 minutes. I think this is a doable goal considering how much reserve energy I had after the 5K yesterday. With more training and pushing my pace up a notch or two, I should be able to knock off 3.5 minutes without a problem. I tell ya, there’s no feeling in the world like crossing that finish line and meeting your goal.
I’m not a runner…where’s this all coming from?!?

I totally planned on running this until I had too many other things to do (too many engagement parties, 30th b-day parties, etc.). But Joe and I are planning on running Disney World again in January. You should join us! We’re trying to get other people to come run it with us!

Hey Jen! I’ve been meaning to email ya… I wondered if you ever made it into town for the Flying Pig. I’m most definitely not up for running a marathon yet (that’s a huge step from where I am now) but I am joining a running club, so we’ll see where I am by then… If nothing else, it might be fun just to go and cheer you all on!

Joe finished last year, and if he can finish, you can too! He was in terrible shape when we started training last september. And Disney is a marathon where you want to jog and walk parts of it. It’s too much fun; you don’t want to run the whole thing!

Lol, you’re making quite a case, Jen
Too bad the half is already booked… It’s a bit expensive, though, but we’ll see how my training and such goes.
