Kings Island
What a day! I started it out by going to my “new” church. By that, I mean the church that just this week I decided to commit myself to attending and to getting involved in. It was mission Sunday, so we heard about and recognized all the missionaries from the church. The children led us in singing “God is So Good” in Spanish, Portuguese, Luganda, Swahili and English, which was pretty awesome, and there was a good sermon (more on that later).
After church, LT and I headed north to Kings Island for the annual PPD Family Picnic. The weather was perfect! My skin is a little fried right now, but oh well! Surprisingly, the park was not very crowded at all - no long lines so we got to ride everything we wanted even though we got up there after 1. Unfortunately, the new coaster Firehawk wasn’t open yet (it opens next weekend), but that just meant more time to ride The Beast (my fave) and other rides. I smoked LT at Scooby’s Haunted Mansion, 2040 points to 180, and she even used two guns for part of it (Sorry, LT, had to rub it in
).
Cedar Fair (owners of Cedar Point) bought Kings Island from Paramount last summer, but other than some re-branding/logos, and the removal of some Paramount themes, I didn’t see much different this season - so far. It’s still new, so I imagine more changes are in the pipeline.
The picnic itself was nice. For dinner, we had Montgomery Inn BBQ pork and chicken with some sides, then ice cream for dessert. Dora the Explorer even stopped by!
They gave out prizes again, but I didn’t get as lucky this year as I did last year. (Last year, I won a portable DVD player)
All in all, an excellent weekend that has come and gone too quickly, as usual. How was your weekend?
(Hmm, I used a lot of parenthetical remarks this post, so maybe it’s fitting to end it this way
)

Wow, I did not know that King’s Island had changed hands. Definitely could be interesting. I really like Cedar Point.
Glad you had a wonderful day. It definitely was a beautiful day to be outside enjoying life.
