Weekend Recap
So much for my posting streak…I went a month without missing a day, now I’ve missed three days in a row. I probably should make it for since I’m so tired… The missed days were for a good reason. I took a trip to Nashville this weekend to visit my brother David and sister-in-law Elizabeth. It was really great to get away, though I’m more tired now than I was before I left.
I left right after work on Friday (couldn’t even leave earlier than normal…) and was a bit rushed as I tried to hit the road. It wasn’t a bad drive, though. No traffic and a good conversation on the way. The weather was nice, too. Once I got there, we just hung out for the night, catching up on things and playing some Wii.
Saturday was a busy day. David and I met up with some guys from his Sunday school class and we played ultimate Frisbee for a couple hours. Pretty nice day for it, not terribly hot but sunny. Brentwood, TN has some nice parks and the field we were on is better than most places I’ve played ultimate. Didn’t have to worry about holes and such for a change.
After lunch with the guys, we met up with Elizabeth and went for a nice hike in one of the parks (I forget which one) then went to another and tossed some Frisbee for a while. Well, Elizabeth tried…she’s getting there!
After showering and changing, we hit downtown Nashville for the evening. This week was the CMA Music Festival and I was pumped for it, since I’m such a huge country music fan. (That’s sarcasm for those who don’t know…) We were expecting downtown to be packed but it really wasn’t. Saturday night was the big concert, so everyone had moved onto the stadium, where all the artists were performing. There were enough people downtown to keep it interesting, though. We ate at Jack’s
Bar-B-Que, which was okay, but not like Montgomery Inn or some other places I’ve been. There were six types of sauces to pick from, though, so it was fun trying each one. I definitely like the KC style best. After exploring downtown, we head back to the condo and played monopoly. I beat David by $4, but Elizabeth crushed us both. But I beat David, the property whore, and that’s what counts!
Sunday, we woke up early and went to Sunday school and the early church service. Dave and Liz cooked lunch (breakfast!) and then we went to David’s softball game. They won and I got way too much sun - I’m hurting from the burn!
After the game, I hit the road and headed north to visit my grandparents in Western KY for a couple hours. It was a fantastic evening and we had a yummy steak dinner outside, then took some shots at the groundhogs that were eating up all the beans in the fields.
Now I’m exhausted and needing some rest. No break in sight, though. I have a busy week and quite a weekend lined up, with two weddings and getting to see a very special person. I hope I can find some downtime before then so I can enjoy it the good times!

Sunscreen is your friend. Trust me on this one. I really hope that you did not get as much sun as I did back in early May because painful doesn’t start to describe the pain that I was in then.
Sounds like a wonderful weekend. Have fun at all of your upcoming weddings and adventures. I just completed two weekends of weddings.

ok, two things: first, you were shooting at groundhogs? i didn’t know you had any redneck in you! and second, you really shouldn’t call me your “very special person” on line. ah well…

I’ll have to inquire about the groundhogs in two weeks when I’m there at the Vaughts. Sounds like fun. We’ll have more lined up for the next time you here, and the parks are Edwin Warner and Percy Warner.
