Money Clip

While doing some Christmas shopping online last week, I saw some inexpensive, but nice looking, University of Kentucky money clips, and for some reason (well, I’ll chalk it up as a “stress” buy) decided to get one. I’ve never used a money clip before, but I know I don’t like carrying a wallet. Rarely do I carry my wallet in my back pocket, as it’s very uncomfortable and it makes me feel lopsided. So I ditched the wallet entirely and I’ve been using the clip for about a week now. I re-assessed what I really needed to carry with me and realized that I didn’t need my library card, Blockbuster card, etc. on a daily basis, so they’ve found a home in a drawer at home. When I need to use them, it’ll most likely be a planned trip, so I’ll just carry them when needed. Also, I don’t need the temptation of the credit card being on my person all the time, so I’ll stash it in the car for gas purchases (I don’t like using my debit card for paying at the pump). There’s really not much left, so it easily slips into a front pocket. I’m not 100% sold on it yet, but I think most of my hesitations are due to this being a new experience for me that will (hopefully) pass as I get used to it and learn how to effectively use it.

  1. I had wallets too. you should look into a “front pocket wallet”. I’ve been carrying one for a number of years now. They are thinner, some are bi-fold. Most have either a money clip or a elbow in inside the bi-fold. I could never go back to a normal wallet.

  2. Hmm, interesting, I’ll have to check that out.

  3. Yeah, Dan always complains of having “walletbutt,” but I don’t think he would switch to a money clip. I can see you with it though.
