Which is the Greatest Trilogy?
Cracked.com asks, and answers, Which is the Greatest Trilogy?
In the post, pitting Star Wars vs. The Matrix vs. Lord of the Rings, they “quantifiably conclude which film trilogy is superior.”
The winner? Star Wars…but don’t take it too seriously. It’s a humorous article.
Of the three, LOTR is my pick by far. The Matrix trilogy isn’t even on the radar. (The first film is one of my favorites, but the other two are pretty bad in my opinion.)
But there are many other film trilogies besides these three. I’d put Indiana Jones movies right up there with LOTR movies in my list of favorite movies.
And that gives me an idea for a new poll - What’s Your Favorite Film Trilogy? Vote now!

For what they are, Star Wars, episodes IV, V, and VI are unbelievable. Incredible SFX, and they (re-)invented the blockbuster.
Still, LOTR will be the films against which all future Fantasy/Sci-Fi films will be compared:
* “Narnia”
* Golden Compass
* Eragon
* …etc..
Fitting, since Tolkien defines a whole genre of literature, the films based upon his books redefined a whole genre of cinema.

Seriously, Chris? You like LOTR better than the original Star Wars episodes?

Oh yes, I definitely like LOTR better than the original Star Wars. I loved the LOTR books long before the movies, so that probably adds to my liking of them. I think Eps 1-3 put a sour taste in my mouth, though… That doesn’t mean I don’t still like the original Star Wars, though

If Spiderman 3 rocked me a little more withe the story they took two freaking movies to build, and then finally delivered in all of about 30 minutes, then it would’ve got my vote. Not that Spiderman 3 didn’t rock and all. It’s just that I expected more focus.
LOTR rules obviously, but none of the six aforementioned masterpieces have a single scene featuring a gang of ninjas attacking children. Due to this obvious lack of foresight into what makes a movie immortal, and insight on where the pulse of the American public is in our current society, I must give my vote to the juggarnaunt of cinema that was, is, and forever shall be known simply…as 3 Ninjas.
Also, 3 Ninjas was also the only trilogy that had enough guts to make a movie at a theme park, and cast Hulk Hogan as the villian. Suck on that, Hobbits!
