Dave Ramsey Live
James and I hopped in the car and took a trip down to Lexington Thursday night to see Dave Ramsey’s The Total Money Makeover Live. (Thanks for the free tickets, bro!)
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the event. My thoughts going into it were that Dave would basically present the same material that’s in his book, The Total Money Makeover, and that he talks about on his radio show. That is indeed what it was and it was an excellent event!
The quote on his website about the event says it well:
“If you’ve heard Dave on the radio, then you know his philosophy and his energy. BUT you haven’t REALLY experienced Dave until you’ve seen him face-to-face, live in action!”
I was great to put a visual to the voice I’ve been hearing. As dynamic and charismatic as he is on the radio, he is equally, if not more so, in person. Seeing him and the passion he has for his message live adds so much to what he has to say.
There was a large crowd, more than 3000 people in attendance. I couldn’t help but wonder how different this country could be if just a fraction of the people delayed gratification and used common financial sense.
If Dave comes to a city near you, I recommend attending one of his events.
One of the best parts of the trip wasn’t the event, though, but the great conversations with James. Politics, relationships, money, spirituality, reunions - we covered a lot and it was really good to discuss things that had been on our minds lately.

Proverbs 6
1 My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have struck hands in pledge for another,
2 if you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth,
3 then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands:
Go and humble yourself; press your plea with your neighbor!
4 Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids.
5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
P.S. I’m going to finish one of my 2008 goals very soon, and 2-3 months earlier than expected. More soon…

Happy to see you blogged some over the snowy weekend. Dand and I are enjoying the warmth of Raleigh. This week for us is 60’s and 70’s, much like last week. Oh, Dan and I loved Dave Ramsey LIVE! We even got a free t-shirt saying “Don’t Conform” from him when we saw him at Catalyst. How cool is that?
